Evaluating Data-Driven Style Transformation for Gesturing Embodied Agents
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents an empirical evaluation of a method called Style transformation which consists of modifying an existing gesture sequence in order to obtain a new style where the transformation parameters have been extracted from an existing captured sequence. This data-driven method can be used either to enhance key-framed gesture animations or to taint captured motion sequences according to a desired style.

Automated Gesturing for Embodied Animated Agent: Speech-driven and Text-driven Approaches
We present two methods for automatic facial gesturing of graphically embodied animated agents. In one case, conversational agent is driven by speech in automatic Lip Sync process. By analyzing speech input, lip movements are determined from the speech signal. Another method provides virtual speaker capable of reading plain English text and rendering it in a form of speech accompanied by the app...
متن کاملThe GESTYLE Language
GESTYLE is a new markup language to annotate text which has to be spoken by Embodied Conversational Agents (ECA), to prescribe the usage of hand-, headand facial gestures accompanying the speech in order to augment the communication. The annotation ranges from low level (e.g. perform a specific gesture) to high level (e.g. take turn in a conversation) instructions. On top of that, and central t...
متن کاملVariations in gesturing and speech by GESTYLE
Humans tend to attribute human qualities to computers. It is expected that people, when using their natural communicational skills, can perform cognitive tasks with computers in a more enjoyable and effective way. For these reasons human-like embodied conversational agents (ECAs) as components of user interfaces have received a lot of attention. It has been shown that the style of the agent’s l...
متن کامل, a . Nijholt Generating Embodied Information Presentations
The output modalities available for information presentation by embodied, human-like agents include both language and various nonverbal cues such as pointing and gesturing. These human, nonverbal modalities can be used to emphasize, extend or even replace the language output produced by the agent. To deal with the interdependence between language and nonverbal signals, their production processe...
